Owner and Certified Lighting Specialist Lucy Dearborn is beyond passionate about lighting. Lucy was born with the initials LED and that was just the beginning. For Lucy, lighting is half creative and half technical—a partnership of form and function working together in harmony to create the best space for clients to live in. For the past 30 years, Lucy has been bringing the magic of lighting to life in some of the most notable and prominent properties from New England down the coast to Palm Beach. After graduating from Salem State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and a minor in Business, Lucy began her career in lighting as a sales associate at a small, family-owned lighting store. Active in several trade, community, and business organizations, Lucy served as a member of the Executive Board of Designers Lighting Forum for eight years.  

What was your first job in lighting design?

Sales associate at a small, family-owned lighting store. I’d just graduated from college and took a position at a lighting store and fell in love with how much lighting can impact our daily lives.

What makes you unique in this profession?

Every project is different, unique, and special and I make a point to include a signature wow feature for every client.

What are you currently obsessed with?

Translucent back lighting, because back lighting stone brings out all the beauty and dimension of the material.
