Award Recognizes Lucia Lighting & Design’s Exceptional Community Involvement

Lucia accepts Showroom of the Year Award for Community Service

Dallas Market Center and Residential Lighting magazine yesterday announced the winners of the third annual Showroom of the Year Awards. The event, hosted in Loft 4 at the Trade Mart, recognized the most prestigious lighting retailers in North America. Hundreds of guests gathered to celebrate the winners while enjoying southern-inspired hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Local lighting showroom Lucia Lighting & Design (Lucia) earned the top award for  Exceptional Community Involvement.  Lucia shared the winners circle with six other showrooms, only three were from the United States with Lucia being the exclusive winning showroom  from New England.

“I am honored and thrilled for the Lucia team to be recognized at this high level. Being able to help out the community is the cornerstone of business and one of the main reasons I chose to open a showroom of my own,” says Lucy Dearborn. Since opening in 2005, Lucia has made a strong effort to closely connect with the local business, non-profit  and design communities .

Highlights of initiatives Lucia has launched include establishment of  the Cynthia Balesteri Ray ’03 Memorial Scholarship in honor of a 30-year-old lighting specialist employee who was killed in 2010 by a drunk driver. Lucia has contributed to a range of worthy causes including: children’s healthcare at the Lynn Community Health Center, Haiti-relief efforts and the Monson Relief Fund for those affected by tornadoes in the state of Massachusetts.

“Whether raising funds or donating our venue for for charities, teaming up with local businesses to raise awareness of the vibrancy of the Lynn community, supporting education and scholarship programs or partnering with industry professionals in the design community, our goal is to shed light on doing the right thing is the right thing to do. It’s the Lucia mantra and how we do business and live life,” says Dearborn.
